The public is invited to attend the Idaho Fallen Firefighter Memorial Ceremony on Friday, September 7 at 2 p.m. at the Idaho Fallen Firefighter Memorial Park located at 1775 West Shoreline Drive, Boise.
The ceremony is dedicated to those who have made the supreme sacrifice while protecting the communities they serve. This is the tenth anniversary of this event. This year a new memorial stone was installed at the site on August 23, with six names added to the wall. These are firefighters from across the state who have died in the line of duty over the years. During the ceremony, State Fire Marshal Knute Sandahl will recite the names of the fallen during the roll call. Pipes and drums from Boise, Meridian and Eagle will also take part in the ceremony.
About the memorial: The Idaho Fallen Firefighter Memorial was established in 2008 and includes a bronze sculpture and memorial wall honoring Idaho’s Fallen Firefighters. The memorial park exemplifies Idaho – its pride, family values, and commitment to service.
Media: Interviews will be available immediately following the ceremony.
