The November issue of Firehouse Magazine will highlight two awards bestowed upon Boise Fire Stations 4 and 8. Firehouse magazine has chosen Station 4 for Career 2 category Silver and Fire Station 8 for Career 2 category Notable. The fourth annual Station Design Awards program recognizes outstanding architecture and design from fire departments nationwide. The Boise stations were picked out of 43 entries.
The magazine pointed out that the Station 4 project was designed using the new Boise City Green Construction Code and offers a new vision of urban growth in the community. The magazine highlighted the idea that Station 8 is modern, sustainable and was designed based on green building code.
Both fire station projects were made possible by citizen support of the public safety no-tax bond which had a 76% approval in November, 2014. Station 8 opened in May, followed by Station 4 in June of this year.
