Joint Wildland Refresher Training
When: May 22-25 (Media invited to attend May 23 from 10:45-11:30 a.m.)

Boise Fire will host a Joint Wildland Refresher Training class May 22-25. Agencies involved in the event include: BLM, Eagle Fire, Kuna Fire, Meridian Fire and Star Fire. Training will take place at the Western Idaho Fairgrounds in Garden City.
The focus of the training will include off-road driving while operating fire pumps on the fire line, communication and cooperation between other units, fire engine deployment of a progressive hose lay using multiple crews of firefighters to extend the hose line, and introduction to basic burnout/backfire operations and the tools used to fight fire with fire. The training also includes burn tables that are designed to teach command and control of rapidly developing fires in the WUI (Wildland Urban Interface).
The course will be taught by Boise Fire personnel and assisted by the other departments.
