4th OF JULY RESPONSE AND LAKEHARBOR LANE FIRE
The Boise Fire Department responded to 13 fires on July 4 and early on July 5, four were confirmed to be caused by fireworks and five have unknown causes or are still under investigation. This number is down slightly from 2016 when Boise Fire responded to ten firework related fires on July 4 and early on July 5. The vast majority of calls resulted in a quick response and little or no property damage.
Boise Fire did respond to a structure fire at 2:38 a.m., on July 5 at N. Lakeharbor Lane. The three-alarm fire damaged five apartments. The Burnout Fund is assisting those displaced by the fire. The fire started on a second story balcony and burned up and into the unit above and into the attic. Everyone made it safely out. One person was treated on scene by Ada County Paramedics for a breathing issue.
Fire investigators believe fireworks are to blame. There are reports of young teenagers setting off fireworks in the area prior to the fire, if you have any information you’re asked to call 343-COPS, you can remain anonymous.
